Adesuwa Initiatives was invented by the Nigerian Author and Human rights activist Joana Adesuwa Reiterer, to develop and implement sustainable projects, with the aim to combat violence against African women and children. One of her major project, NGO EXIT was founded in 2006 in Austria to fight against human trafficking from Africa to Europe. With over 20 volunteers , we strive towards a multi dimensional approach to combat human trafficking and violence.

Our journey...

NGO EXIT has being our primary project against human trafficking and was initiated in 2006. It all started with a short film which was shot in Vienna to enlighten Nigerian students about the ills of sexual exploitation in Europe. This campaign was covered by the Austrian broadcasting television (ORF) and aired several times in Vienna. After this awareness campaign in Nigeria, a good number of men contacted us to share their experience. It turned out that the majority of them were sex clients, who have in one way or the other had contact to women suspected to be forced into Prostitution. Some succeeded in encouraging the women to take a step to free themselves out of the bondage of their exploiters. These brave women became our first set of client, who we continually counseled throughout the years. Afterwards, we kept the counseling activities on and now represent diverse cases of trafficking in Austria.

Our vision...

Our vision is to contribute to a society where Sexual exploitation is considered a serious human rights violation and abuse, a society where children are show love and care, a society where violence has no place, a society where racism does not becomes a normality, A society were people can migrate of choice, a society were poverty is eliminated, a society were everyone is free. Our vision aims to meet the UN initiated "Millennium development goals"- http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/
